VRS of Nitish's close IAS Dinesh Rai approved, Speculation of contesting assembly elections

Speculation is rife about a bureaucrat joining politics before the Bihar assembly elections. The Nitish government has approved the voluntary retirement (VRS) of senior IAS officer Dinesh Kumar Rai. The General Administration Department also issued a notification in this regard on Monday. After leaving the IAS job, there is speculation about Dinesh Rai contesting the Bihar assembly elections. He is originally from Rohtas district and has been counted among the close officers of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He can enter politics from Nitish's party Janata Dal United.

Before taking VRS, Dinesh Rai was serving as the Secretary of the Revenue and Land Reforms Department. He was recently promoted. Earlier, he was the DM of West Champaran district for a long time. Apart from this, he has also been the personal secretary of CM Nitish. Dinesh Kumar was formerly an officer of the Bihar Administrative Service (BPS). The government promoted him to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in the year 2010.

When Dinesh Kumar Rai reached his home district Rohtas for the first time after being made the secretary in the Revenue Department last month, he was welcomed like a leader. He was given a grand honor at various places in Kargahar. It was also claimed that there were more than a thousand vehicles in his convoy. After this program, there were speculations about Dinesh Rai taking VRS and entering politics. He applied for VRS, which has now been approved.

Former IAS Dinesh Kumar Rai has not yet disclosed anything about his next step. However, he has been praising the policies of CM Nitish Kumar in his statements. In such a situation, it is being speculated that he can enter politics from Nitish's party itself. JDU can field Dinesh in the electoral fray. Nitish Kumar has already made many officers enter politics, prominent among them are RCP Singh and Manish Verma.
