Australia defeated India by 7 wickets, Rohit and Virat Kohli's flop show

The Indian team, touring Australia, suffered a defeat in the first match of the three-match ODI series. The hosts won the toss and elected to field first in Perth. India had a poor start, losing 9 wickets in 26 overs in a rain-affected match, managing only 136 runs. Australia were set a target of 131 (DLS), which they easily achieved thanks to captain Mitchell Marsh's (46*) innings.

The match started on schedule, and hopes were pinned on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who were playing for the Indian team after a long time. However, both batsmen combined to face only 22 balls. Australia lost three wickets before achieving this simple target, but thanks to captain Mitchell Starc (46*), Josh Phillips (37), and Matt Renshaw (21*), they easily secured victory. For India, Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar took one wicket each.
