Patna, Superintendent Engineer of Rural Works Department Vinod Kumar Rai's remand has been rejected citing his health. Economic Offences Unit (EOU) had sought five days remand of the engineer from the court, but the remand was not approved.

According to sources, considering the engineer's health, options of interrogation in front of a nursing home or a team of doctors have been given. The EOU team will now consult the legal team for further action.

On the other hand, EOU is now looking for the engineer's wife Babli Rai in the case of burning notes. EOU has sought warrant from the court for Babli Rai's arrest. A case has been registered against Babli Rai for burning Indian currency, obstructing the work of police, etc.

When the EOU team reached the engineer's residence for the raid, his wife Babli Rai kept the police outside the gate overnight, citing that she was alone. During this time, notes and documents were burnt in the house throughout the night.

Despite this, during the raid in the morning, 52 lakh cash, jewelry worth 26 lakh and a large number of half-burnt notes and documents were found from the engineer's residence. In the further investigation of the EOU, documents of more than two dozen immovable properties were also found with the engineer.
