Kurukshetra, Kurukshetra: The only Government Girls Senior Secondary School, located near the old vegetable market in Thanesar city, currently employs approximately 1,600 students and over a dozen staff members. This is the only government school for girls in Thanesar city, where approximately 1,600 students attend in two shifts, morning and evening. Due to the large number of students, the number of girls attending school varies from morning to evening. From the main gate of the girls' school to the main road of the main market, vehicles belonging to shopkeepers from the city and remote areas are parked to such an extent from morning till late at night that it becomes difficult for the girls to exit the main gate during the afternoon break. It's not that the police (which is located just ten steps away from the Thanesar city police station) aren't fully aware of this (because the school's principal has written to both the district administration and the police administration several times about the chaos here). However, to date, the police department hasn't taken any concrete action. Until recently, two police officers were on duty here throughout the day, as directed by the Superintendent of Police, to ensure that students, teachers, and others faced no problems and that molesters could be strictly reined in. However, nowadays, everything seems to be left to chance. It's worth noting that there are three beauty parlors near the main gate of the girls' school, where women and girls come in large numbers all the time, and they hastily park their vehicles haphazardly and leave the beauty parlors. This also contributes to the frequent gatherings of girls here. City shopkeepers and those who come from far away to buy essential goods also find opportunities to park their vehicles haphazardly, which remain parked until late at night, making it difficult for the girls and female teachers at the city's only government school and the local residents to leave their homes. The Principal of the Government Girls Senior Secondary School stated that they have made written requests to the district administration and police administration more than two dozen times, but to date, no administrative official has bothered to improve the dire situation.
In addition, e-rickshaws, auto-rickshaws, and four-wheelers roam freely throughout the day in large numbers.
They too have no fear of any authorities because they have a union. Furthermore, many shopkeepers have their goods parked several feet outside the boundaries of their shops.
It's surprising that officers and employees of the Municipal Council and the police department pass by here every day, yet no officer has bothered to pay attention to this. Doesn't any officer or policeman have the time to get involved in this mess?
October is the month of most festivals. Heavy crowds can be seen in the markets at all times, but no official has the time to address the situation. Looking at the current situation, it sometimes feels as if the city's residents are living a life of destitution, as no responsible official has the time to address the dire situation. If the responsible officials of the Municipal Council and the police administration were to go to the ground and honestly assess the city, the truth would automatically emerge. I wish the district administration would take the initiative to find a solution to this serious problem in a timely manner, providing relief to the common man, as the current situation has made it difficult for the common man to even walk.
