Panchkula, Sad news has arrived from the family of former Punjab DGP Mohammad Mustafa and former Minister of State Razia Sultana. Their only son, Akil Akhtar, passed away on Friday.

According to reports, Akil Akhtar lived in the MDC area of ​​Panchkula and is suspected to have died of a drug overdose. A post-mortem examination was conducted at Sector 6 Hospital, after which the body was handed over to the family. According to sources, the last rites will be performed today (October 17, 2025) in his ancestral village of Harda Kheri (Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh). It is reported that Akil Akhtar was already dead by the time he was brought to the hospital.

Information shared by Civil Hospital Panchkula revealed that Akil Akhtar was brought to the hospital at around 9:28 pm on October 16, where doctors declared him dead. According to the hospital's MLC report, Akil Akhtar's body was kept in the mortuary for post-mortem. The incident was reported to the Mansa Devi Complex police station, Panchkula. Akil Akhtar reportedly lived in MDC Sector 4, Panchkula. The cause of death will only be confirmed after the post-mortem report, although preliminary information suggests a drug overdose.

Razia Sultana, a former minister

It is noteworthy that Akil was a lawyer in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. His mother, Razia Sultana, was a minister in the Punjab government. Akil's father, Mustafa, retired as DGP in 2021 and then joined the Congress. Akil is married and has a son and a daughter. Former DGP father Mohammad Mustafa took his body to his ancestral village Harda in Saharanpur early in the morning.
