Former minister Tej Pratap Yadav has taken a big step in Bihar politics after being out of RJD. On Tuesday (August 5), he announced a new alliance with five regional parties. This alliance is going to contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections.

Parties included in this new alliance

Vikas Vanchit Insaan Party (VVIP)
Bhojpuria Jan Morcha (BJM)
Pragatisheel Janata Party (PJP)
Wajib Adhikar Party (WAP)
Samyukta Kisan Vikas Party (SKVP)

Tej Pratap's new political move is being considered a big step taken a few months after he was expelled from the party by his father and RJD chief Lalu Prasad. Addressing a press conference with the national presidents of the five allied parties, Tej Pratap Yadav said that this alliance will work for social justice, people's rights and overall development of the eastern state of Bihar.

Why was he expelled from the party?

The former Bihar minister was expelled from the party by his father Lalu Prasad on May 25 for six years. A day earlier, he had allegedly confessed to being in a "relationship" with a woman named Anushka. However, he later deleted the social media post, saying his page had been "hacked". Lalu Prasad expelled Tej Pratap Yadav from the party for his "irresponsible behaviour". A few days later, Tej Pratap claimed that there was a "conspiracy" to create a rift between him and younger brother Tejashwi Yadav.

Tej Pratap made his feelings public by posting on X and blamed "Jaichand", a word used as a symbol of betrayal, for the entire controversy. Tej Pratap's exit from the party comes months ahead of the Bihar assembly elections, which the RJD will contest under the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav.
