Ashok Chaudhary accused of illegally purchasing property worth Rs 200 crore

Patna, Dr. Ashok Choudhary, who joined the Janata Dal United from the Congress, could resign from his ministerial post at any time. Prashant Kishore's Jan Suraj Party is looking likely to win a major victory ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections. PK had accused Ashok Choudhary of acquiring property worth 200 crore rupees through illegal means. While awaiting a response from the minister, leaders of the ruling Janata Dal United launched a campaign against Choudhary on Saturday. Now, leaders of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party have also demanded a decision from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, citing his zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. The Chief Minister is known for expelling ministers over corruption issues in the past, and in 2017, he even brought down his Grand Alliance government over this issue.

Ashok Choudhary has not responded, demanding proof.

Prashant Kishore even held a press conference to provide information about Minister Ashok Choudhary's account details, but no response has been forthcoming. Minister Ashok Choudhary's daughter and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) MP Shambhavi Choudhary appeared on Saturday, calling it a despicable act and remaining silent on the allegations against her father. JDU MLC and party spokesperson Neeraj Kumar also spoke out on Saturday, demanding that Ashok Choudhary present his side of the story. Several JDU leaders justified their demand, saying that Minister Ashok Choudhary was tarnishing CM Nitish Kumar's image and that this was wrong. On Sunday, BJP leaders echoed the same sentiment. The minister has yet to respond.

CM Nitish Kumar is known for demanding resignations

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is known for not tolerating allegations against his ministers. In 2017, he demanded answers to allegations against Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav and, when substantiated, resigned from the Grand Alliance government. He then returned to the Bharatiya Janata Party. However, both before and after this, he has been known for not dismissing serious allegations. Such actions have affected Jitan Ram Manjhi, R.N. Singh, Ramadhar Singh, Awadhesh Kushwaha, Manju Verma, and Dr. Mewalal Choudhary, who became a minister in the 2020 government. These ministers were forced to resign at the behest of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
