Indore's black spots should be eliminated soon, Supreme Court's Road Safety Committee gave instructions
The Supreme Court's Road Safety Committee has directed Indore administration to eliminate all road 'black spots' prone to accidents. Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre also emphasized strict enforcement of helmet and seat belt rules to improve road safety in the city.

The Road Safety Committee appointed by the Supreme Court has directed the Indore district administration of Madhya Pradesh to eliminate all the 'black spots' or dangerous road places in the city with a history of frequent accidents as soon as possible. The committee's chairman and former Supreme Court Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre gave this instruction on Tuesday.
Giving information about this, an official said that after a review meeting with the Indore administration, Justice Sapre inspected the identified 'black spots' in the city and took stock of the improvement work going on there. He said that the chairman of the Supreme Court's Road Safety Committee directed the administration to complete the work of eliminating the 'black spots' of the city as soon as possible.
The official said that Justice Sapre asked the local officials to get the construction work of the roads evaluated and action should be taken against the concerned contractors if negligence is found.
District Magistrate Ashish Singh told reporters, "Justice Sapre has told us that just as Indore is continuously performing excellently in the field of cleanliness, similarly there is a need to work in the field of road safety in the city." He said that the chairman of the Supreme Court's Road Safety Committee has instructed the administration to run an intensive campaign in the city to ensure that the rules of wearing helmets and seat belts are followed by the vehicle riders. The Madhya Pradesh High Court had recently expressed deep displeasure over the blatant breaking of traffic rules by people in Indore and stressed the need to take strict steps to curb this trend.
