A New Beginning for Sanatan Knowledge in Chhatarpur, Vedic School (Gurukul) to Open at Bageshwar Dham
Bageshwar Dham to launch a Vedic Gurukul in February, offering Sanatan education by Kashi scholars to shape a cultured and knowledgeable future generation.
The revered Bageshwar Dham will no longer be just a center of faith and devotion, but is also set to become a major center of Sanatan (Hindu) education. A Vedic school (Gurukul) will be inaugurated at Bageshwar Dham this year, coinciding with the seventh mass marriage ceremony in February. Scholarly teachers from Varanasi (Kashi) will impart education to the children.
There is a famous saying, "In foreign lands, knowledge is wealth," meaning that if a person is far from home and lacks material wealth, but possesses knowledge, that knowledge becomes their support in all circumstances. With this philosophy in mind, Bageshwar Dham Peethadhish Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri has announced that from this year onwards, the teachings of scriptures like the Vedas, Puranas, Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Gita will be imparted at Bageshwar Dham. Through the Gurukul, young Brahmin boys will recite Vedic mantras, and the Dham premises will resonate with Vedic chants. Bageshwar Maharaj says that food, water, and money provide support only for a limited time, but knowledge stays with you for a lifetime. If someone is given the gift of knowledge, it benefits them throughout their life.
The Goal: To Make the Future Generation Cultured and Knowledgeable
Bageshwar Maharaj explained that traditions such as wearing a tilak, tying a shikha (tuft of hair), and paying respects to parents, gurus, and God, all stem from Sanatan education. People often wonder why yagnas (fire rituals) are performed, why chanting mantras is necessary, and why one should participate in religious activities. The answers to all these questions will be easily found through the education provided at the Gurukul. Through the Gurukul, children will easily learn about the importance of the tilak, the methods of performing yagnas, and other Sanatan traditions. The objective is that the coming generation should not only be educated but also remain connected to their cultural values.
Scholars from Kashi to Teach at the Gurukul
Regarding the establishment of the Gurukul, Bageshwar Maharaj said that initially, the Vedic school will operate in three or four rooms. It will be expanded gradually. Teachers have already been selected, and experienced and learned Pandits from Kashi will teach Vedic subjects to the children. In the Gurukulam, Vedic education will be provided along with social education, in order to curb the social evils prevalent in society and to build a cultured society.
