Congress protests against renaming of MNREGA, submits memorandum to the President

Katni, The Central Government has been operating the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA), a well-known scheme among the working class of the country. Recently, the current central government has launched a campaign to change the names of various schemes, including those implemented by previous governments. This scheme guaranteed employment to the poor and underprivileged sections of the country. Now, changing the name of this scheme will create confusion among the laborers in rural areas.

Congress district presidents of Katni, along with workers and office bearers of Youth Congress, NSUI, and Mahila Congress, reached the Collectorate and staged a protest on the road, submitting a memorandum to the President. They demanded that the government make meaningful efforts to provide employment to the unemployed so that unemployment can be reduced in the country. Changing the names of schemes will not provide employment to the unemployed.
