Damoh, The Damoh Municipal Council has constructed multi-story EWS (Economically Weaker Section) buildings on Samanna Bypass Road under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Prime Minister's Housing Scheme) AHP component. Approximately 1350 houses have been allotted and handed over to the beneficiaries. For the past several days, complaints of criminal and anti-social activities in this residential complex have been received from various sources, including newspapers and social media.

In this regard, a survey team has been constituted by the CMO of Damoh Municipal Council, based on the names proposed, with the objective of physically verifying each beneficiary and their family residing in each building at the site.

The survey team includes Municipal Sub-Engineer Vikram Singh Thakur, Municipal Revenue Officer Arvind Singh Rajput, Municipal Sub-Engineer Shobhit Agarwal, permanent employees Umesh Upadhyay and Vijay Srivastava, muster roll employee Harihar Chakravarti, and outsourced employees Bharat Patel and Narendra Jatav.

This survey team has been instructed to visit all EWS buildings from January 16, 2026, contact the residing beneficiaries, obtain their allotment orders, match them with the municipal list, compile the information in the prescribed format, and submit it by January 31, 2026.

An inquiry committee has also been constituted to investigate the survey report submitted by the survey team, present information on the actual situation, prepare a list of persons illegally residing in the buildings, and take necessary action against them as per the rules.

The inquiry committee includes Tehsildar Damayanti Nagar Damoh Raghunandan Chaturvedi, Chief Municipal Officer Damoh Municipal Council Rajendra Singh Lodhi, Assistant Engineer Damoh Municipal Council Surendra Ahirwal, and Municipal Sub-Engineer Damoh Municipal Council Vikram Singh Thakur. The constituted committee has been directed to examine the information submitted by the survey team, compare it with the list of beneficiaries allotted by the municipality, identify individuals illegally residing in the residential complex, and initiate legal action against them as per rules by February 20, 2026. A compliance report should then be submitted to the Collector.
