BJP's Ritu Tawde to be BMC Mayor, Shiv Sena bags Deputy Mayor

New Delhi, Following the victory in the BMC elections, the suspense over the mayoral election has ended. Ritu Tawde of the BJP will be the Mumbai Mayor, while Sanjay Ghadi of the Shiv Sena will be the Deputy Mayor.

The BJP has nominated councilor Ritu Tawde for the Mumbai mayoral election. Shiv Sena has nominated Sanjay Ghadi for the Deputy Mayor post.

In the BMC election results, the BJP won 89 seats, while the Shinde faction's Shiv Sena secured 29 seats. This alliance surpassed the majority mark. Following the victory in the BMC elections, the suspense over the mayoral election has ended today.

Elections to be held on February 11th

It is worth noting that the elections for the BMC Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be held on February 11th. Earlier on Saturday, the BJP announced Ritu Tawde as its mayoral candidate, while the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena nominated Sanjay Ghadi for deputy mayor.

BJP leader Amit Satam announced Ritu Tawde's name, while Shiv Sena leader Rahul Shewale announced Sanjay Shankar Ghadi's name. Ritu Tawde is a councilor from Ward 132, while Sanjay Ghadi was elected from Ward 5 in the municipal elections.

Shiv Sena wants to give opportunities to four councilors

Shiv Sena Secretary Sanjay More said in a statement that Ghadi will serve as deputy mayor for 15 months. He was one of the senior former Shiv Sena (UBT) councilors who switched sides and joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena. By dividing the deputy mayoral term in Mumbai, Shiv Sena wants to give opportunities to four of its councilors.

BJP's mayor after 40 years

The BJP has finalized Ritu Tawde's name for the BMC mayor post. Ritu Tawde's name was finalized at a final strategy meeting of BJP councilors at BMC headquarters. This marks the first time in 40 years that a BJP candidate will be elected mayor of Mumbai.
