Sriharikota, The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)'s communication satellite, CMS-03, weighing over 4400 kg, was launched on Sunday. The space agency stated that the satellite, weighing approximately 4,410 kg, is the heaviest satellite ever launched into geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO) from Indian soil. The satellite was launched aboard the LVM3-M5 rocket, nicknamed "Bahubali" for its heavy lifting capacity.

Indian Navy's Most Advanced Satellite

ISRO's LVM3-M5 carrying the CMS-03 communication satellite was launched from SDSC/ISRO Sriharikota in Sriharikota today. The Indian Navy's GSAT 7R (CMS-03) communication satellite will be the Indian Navy's most advanced communication satellite to date. This satellite will strengthen the Navy's space-based communications and maritime domain awareness capabilities. The satellite is India's heaviest communications satellite to date, weighing approximately 4,400 kg. It incorporates several indigenous state-of-the-art components specifically developed to meet the Indian Navy's operational requirements.
