A new twist has emerged in the case of a female doctor who recently committed suicide in Satara, Maharashtra. Maharashtra Women's Commission Chairperson Rupali Chakankar made a major revelation on Monday. She stated that the 28-year-old female doctor had gone to the house of the accused Prashant Bankar on Diwali, where they had a fight over taking a photo. Following the quarrel, the doctor left and later checked into a hotel. This incident occurred in Phaltan (Satara district), Maharashtra, where the doctor worked at a government hospital. The doctor's body was found hanging from a noose in a hotel room last Thursday night.

The female doctor was in constant contact with Bankar.
Before committing suicide, the doctor wrote on her palm that PSI Gopal Badane had sexually assaulted her several times, while software engineer Prashant Bankar had mentally harassed her. Rupali Chakankar stated that the call records between the doctor and the two accused indicate that she had not spoken to PSI Badane since March, but had been in constant contact with Bankar.

She stated that the doctor was at Bankar's house on the day of Lakshmi Puja. They had an argument over taking photographs. Bankar's father tried to persuade her to return home, but she left again and went to a lodge.

Chakankar stated that the doctor sent several messages to Bankar, indicating she was under stress and considering taking drastic action. The post-mortem report stated the cause of death as asphyxiation by hanging. Police are now investigating whether anyone else was involved in the suicide.

Demand for SIT investigation and trial in a fast-track court

The family of a female doctor who committed suicide in Satara, Maharashtra, on Monday demanded the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case. He also said that the case should be heard in a fast-track court in Beed. Family members said in a press conference that their sister's earlier allegations should also be re-investigated. They suspected that the accused police sub-inspector, Gopal Badane, might have destroyed evidence before surrendering just before the Chief Minister's visit. The 28-year-old doctor, a resident of Beed, was found dead in a hotel in Phaltan on Thursday night. In her suicide note, she had accused sub-inspector Badane of repeatedly raping her and engineer Prashant Bankar of mentally harassing her. Both the accused were arrested on Saturday.
