Tennis player Radhika Yadav shot dead by father, Villagers taunted him for living off daughter's earnings

A man shot his daughter dead in Sushant Lok, Gurugram today. The deceased Radhika Yadav, who was a tennis player and lived in Sushant Lok Phase 2, was a tennis player. Police said the man allegedly killed his daughter because he was upset with his daughter running a tennis academy and people used to taunt her that she was living off his earnings.

Father Deepak Yadav fired five bullets at his daughter, three of which hit her. Police have arrested the man.

Police said they received a call that a woman with gunshot injuries was brought dead to the hospital. Police went to her house and found that she ran a tennis academy and was shot by her father.

The man was arrested and during preliminary investigation, he confessed to killing his daughter. The complaint was filed by the accused's brother, who lives on the ground floor. Police said Deepak was upset with his daughter running a tennis academy and was forcing her to shut it down.

According to police, during interrogation, Deepak said his daughter had opened an academy after she suffered a shoulder injury. Whenever he visited his village in Wazirabad, people taunted him for living on his daughter's earnings, which hurt his dignity. Deepak said he had asked his daughter to shut down the academy but she refused, which angered him.

Today, he allegedly took out his revolver and shot her.

"Around 10 am, I heard a loud noise and when I went to the first floor, I saw my niece (Radhika) lying in the kitchen and the gun in the drawing room. I and my son rushed her to Asia Maringo Hospital, where doctors declared her dead," the accused's brother said in his complaint.

The accused's brother said, "My brother used a .32 bore revolver, and it was his own."

Radhika was a national-level tennis player and had won several tournaments. The 25-year-old victim was shot dead at her home in Gurugram Sector-57 around 10 am.

The police have seized the gun used by her father and the case is being investigated.
