Earlier, Russia's Emergency Situations Minister said that the plane was going from Khabarovsk to Tynda city. During this time it crashed. The place where the plane crashed is 7000 km away from Russia's capital Moscow. This plane was being operated by Angara Airlines based in Siberia.
It is not clear yet what was the reason for the plane crash. However, Russia's Interfax news agency reported that the weather in the area was very bad at the time of the crash. Some agencies revealed that the plane was more than 50 years old. In the pictures related to this accident that have gone viral on social media, the wreckage of the plane can be seen scattered in the dense forest. Also, smoke was seen rising from the accident site.
Officials said that due to being in a remote area of Russia, it took a long time for the rescue workers to reach the accident site. Officials have started an investigation into this matter.
Contact lost a few kilometers before the destination
According to Russian agency TASS, the Angara Airlines plane was going from Balagoveshchensk to Tynda Airport in the Amur region on the China border. Local governor Vasily Orlov had said in a post shared on Telegram that when the plane lost contact with the air traffic control, the plane was just a few kilometers away from its destination. In a statement, the director of Tynda Airport has said that the plane caught fire after it crashed. The crew of an MI-8 helicopter had said after an aerial survey of the area that there was no possibility of anyone surviving the accident.
