An AC coach attendant from Chitrakoot was transporting a consignment of liquor from Jabalpur for the festival season and the Bihar elections. The accused youth was hiding the liquor bottles in the battery compartment of the AC coach. The RPF arrested the accused attendant, confiscated the liquor, and registered a case against him.

According to RPF Station Officer Rajiv Khamre, the incident came to light on the morning of Saturday, October 18, at the Jabalpur Coaching Yard when railway employees spotted coach attendant Chandra Bhushan Sinha (27), a resident of Begusarai, hiding packets of liquor bottles in the battery compartment beneath the coach in AC coach M-1 (number 222886) of the Chitrakoot Express. The employees recorded the entire incident and informed the RPF about the liquor being smuggled on the train. The RPF team arrived at the scene, confiscated the liquor, and arrested the accused youth. Forty-eight bottles of English liquor were seized from the accused youth. Their value is over 20,000 rupees.

The Chitrakoot Express runs from Jabalpur to Barauni in Bihar via Lucknow. The accused stated that alcohol is prohibited in Bihar. He was carrying the consignment of liquor from Jabalpur due to the festival season and the Bihar elections. The RPF registered a case against the accused youth under the Excise Act and took necessary action. The accused youth is being questioned regarding the liquor smuggling.
