Katni: Madhya Pradesh Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar's visit to Katni became a topic of discussion when, on one hand, he spoke about innovations and schemes in higher education, but on the other hand, he avoided questions regarding the UGC protests and other controversial issues.

During his brief visit to Katni, Minister Inder Singh Parmar said that the process of appointing guest lecturers in the state is continuously underway. Referring to the Central Government's New Education Policy 2020, he stated that a digital evaluation system will be implemented in the state's universities this year. The minister said that until now, bundles of examination answer sheets were taken for offline evaluation, but online evaluation will make the examination process more transparent and reliable. Providing information about another innovation, the minister said that Madhya Pradesh is the heartland of India, and initiatives are being taken here to promote India's diverse languages. Under this initiative, Indian languages such as Tamil, Malayalam, Sindhi, Manipuri, and Gujarati will be linked to different universities, which will strengthen linguistic and cultural studies. However, when journalists questioned him about the UGC protests, the minister refrained from giving a direct answer, which has sparked new discussions in political and academic circles. Regarding the ongoing controversy related to Shankaracharya in Uttar Pradesh, the minister said that the matter was not at his level. He also said that he would not give a controversial statement like the one journalists had elicited from Madhya Pradesh Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya under pressure. Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar also declined to comment on the controversy surrounding the proposed PPP model medical college in Katni. He said he would not say anything on the matter. While the minister spoke about better work and schemes in higher education, his silence on controversial issues emerged as the biggest political message of his visit.
