Indore again wins in Swachh Survey
Indore has once again emerged as the cleanest city in the country in the Swachh Survey-2024-25 conducted to check the cleanliness of cities.

New Delhi, Indore has once again emerged as the cleanest city in the country in the Swachh Survey-2024-25 conducted to check the cleanliness of cities. It has won this title for the eighth time in a row. In the category of cities with a population of more than 10 lakh in the Swachh Super League, Surat has secured second place after Indore and Navi Mumbai at third place.
At the same time, cities like New Delhi and Noida have secured top positions among smaller cities in the Swachh Super League. In this movement for urban cleanliness, cities like Ahmedabad, Bhopal and Lucknow have also emerged as new clean cities. President Draupadi Murmu on Thursday awarded these cities that topped the Swachh Survey 2024-25 in a grand ceremony organized by the Ministry of Urban Affairs at Vigyan Bhavan.
Awards in different categories
A total of 23 cities were awarded in five categories in Swachh Super League, a total of 15 cities in the category of Presidential Awardee, six cities in the category of Ministerial Awardee and 34 cities in the rapidly improving cities in Ministerial Awardee. In Swachh Survekshan 2024-25, 10 cities of Maharashtra have made it to the list, while eight cities of Madhya Pradesh, eight of Chhattisgarh, five of Uttar Pradesh and four of Gujarat have made it to the list.
Eight years ago, only 73 cities were associated with this campaign, while now more than 45 hundred small and big cities have joined the Swachh Survekshan Abhiyan of 2024-25. For the first time, these awards have been given in five categories according to the population of the cities. This has now increased the competition among small cities regarding cleanliness. During this, Prayagraj of Uttar Pradesh was awarded the Best Ganga City Award, while Secunderabad was awarded the Best Cantonment Board Award.
Along with this, Greater Visakhapatnam, Visakhapatnam, Jabalpur and Gorakhpur were given the Best Safai Mitra Surakshit Award for providing safety and dignity to the sanitation workers. This time's campaign of Swachh Survey was focused on reducing, reusing and recycling waste. More than three thousand evaluators conducted a thorough inspection in every ward of the country for 45 days. During this time, more than 11 lakh houses were evaluated. In this, the opinion of a total of 14 crore citizens was taken.
These cities became winners of Super Swachh League
In cities with a population of more than one million: - Indore, Surat, Navi Mumbai, Vijayawada.
In cities with a population of three to ten lakh: - Noida, Chandigarh, Mysore, Ujjain, Gandhinagar, Guntur.
In cities with a population of 50 thousand to three lakh: - New Delhi (NDMC), Tirupati, Ambikapur (Chhattisgarh), Lonavala (Maharashtra).
Cities with a population of 20 thousand to 50 thousand:- Vita, Saswad, Deolali Parbat (all three from Maharashtra), Dungarpur (Rajasthan).
Cities with a population of less than 20 thousand:- Panchgani (Maharashtra), Patan (Chhattisgarh), Panhala (Maharashtra), Vishrampur (Chhattisgarh), Budhni (Madhya Pradesh).

Cities with a population of more than one million:- Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Lucknow.
Cities with a population of three to ten lakh:- Mira-Bhayander (Maharashtra), Bilaspur, Jamshedpur.
Cities with a population of 50 thousand to three lakh:- Dewas (Madhya Pradesh), Karhad (Maharashtra), Karnal (Haryana).
Cities with a population of 20 to 50 thousand:- Panaji, Aska (Odisha), Kumhari (Chhattisgarh).
Cities with population less than 20 thousand: Bilha (Chhattisgarh), Chikiti (Odisha), Shahganj (Madhya Pradesh).
Cities with ministerial award: Visakhapatnam, Jabalpur, Gorakhpur, Secunderabad Cantt, Prayagraj.
Ministerial award: Cities getting cleaned rapidly: Patna, Raipur, Sonipat, Jammu, Vadodara, Guwahati, Bundu (Jharkhand), Gwalior, Bathinda, Jaipur Greater, Agra, Lalkuan and total 34 cities.
