World-class emergency and indoor facilities at Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) will begin from August 15. The ₹5460 crore redevelopment includes 27 modular OTs, 1050 beds across two towers, and advanced anesthesia machines, aiming to transform Bihar's healthcare system.

Patna. World class facilities of the new emergency ward of Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) will start being available from Independence Day, 15th August. Preparations for this are going on at a fast pace by the PMCH administration. BMSCIL has to prepare the necessary resources from oxygen pipeline to hand it over to the hospital administration by 7th August.

Under this, first of all, a 100 bed emergency ward of the Medicine Department will be started. Along with this, a 272 bed general ward of the Medicine Department will also be available. With this, the patients admitted here will start getting emergency and ward facilities at one place.

After this, emergency and indoor wards of the Pediatrics Department and Gynecology and Obstetrics Department will be started. This will provide relief to the currently admitted patients. At present, this ward is running in the Gujari Ward, Hathua and LS Ward of the hospital.

Preparations to shift it are almost in the final stage. The Medicine Emergency Ward will be handed over by the construction company on 7th August. After this, patients will be admitted with new facilities and treatment will start.

Superintendent Dr. IS Thakur said that after shifting the medicine emergency, in the second phase, the emergency of the Pediatrics and Obstetrics Department, Eye Department and ENT Department will be shifted.

Currently the Pediatrics and Obstetrics Department is running in Tata Ward, it will be vacated and demolished. The Pediatrics and Obstetrics Ward of the new hospital has 58 beds in Piku and Niku wards and a total of 90 beds have been made in indoor and emergency.

At the same time, in the third phase, there is a total of 200 beds indoor and emergency in the Gynecology, Eye and ENT departments. It will be started by September.

27 work stations and 15 vial separators in 27 modular operation theaters
27 work station machines will be available in the new building for the safety of patients and assistance to anesthesia doctors. Compared to earlier, the operation of patients will be done easily and in less time. Because the hospital administration is going to restore the facility of 27 work stations and 15 vial separators in 27 modular operation theatres here.

According to the hospital administration, work is being done to connect this modern technology work station used in the operation of patients to the operation theatre. The cost of one machine is about Rs 70 lakh. According to the doctors of the anesthesia department, these state-of-the-art equipment will help the doctors in the operation and the patients will also be treated accurately.

1050 beds ready in two towers, new buildings to be built in three phases

PMCH is being made world-class. Under this, the building is to be constructed in three phases. Two buildings have been completed in the first phase. 1050 beds have been made in them. The work of the second phase is to start from September. After this the third phase will start.

There will be a facility of 5462 beds in all three phases. Rs 5460 crore will be spent on this. Medical equipment worth a total of Rs 764.3 crore will be purchased in all three phases. Medical equipment worth Rs 329.9 crore will be installed in the first phase, Rs 237.4 crore in the second phase and Rs 197 crore in the third phase.

If handed over by 7th, emergency will start from 15th August
PMCH Superintendent Dr. IS Thakur said that the facility of admitting emergency patients in two towers is being started in a phased manner. In the same sequence, if the emergency construction agency hands over by 7th August, then by 15th August, 100 beds and 272 beds indoor facility will be started in medicine emergency.

After this, patients will be admitted in emergency and indoor of pediatrics, gynecology, ENT and eye department. Also, 27 work station machines and 15 vial separator machines have also arrived for anesthesia. Soon it will be started in OT as well.
