On the occasion of International Tiger Day, a grand program was organized by the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bihar at Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park (Patna Zoo) on Tuesday. Departmental Minister Dr. Sunil Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary Harjot Kaur Bamhra and senior officials of the department participated in the program. The program began with the inspection of the tiger enclosure located in the zoo. After this, prizes and certificates were given to the winners of the student painting and quiz competition organized on International Tiger Day. In the painting competition, DPS School got first place in Group A, Loyola High School got second, and Saint Michael High School got third place. In Group B also, DPS School got first place, Loyola High School got second and Radiant International School got third place. Along with Group C and D, the winners of the quiz competition and 'Snake Day' were also awarded.

About 900 students from 15 schools participated in the competition, which was going on for the last one week. During this, the students demonstrated their awareness and talent towards wildlife conservation through painting and quiz. Addressing the program, Minister Dr. Sunil Kumar said that Bihar is soon moving towards another tiger reserve in Kaimur. A proposal has been sent to the central government for this. He said that in the last 12 years, the number of tigers in Bihar has increased eight times, which is a proof of the favorable environment for tigers in the state. He said that a total of 32 tigers have been born in Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park so far, which shows that this park has become a suitable place for breeding tigers. On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary Harjot Kaur Bamhra, emphasizing on tiger conservation, said that encroachment on forests should be stopped and tigers should be allowed to live in their natural habitat. At the same time, Director (Ecology and Environment) Abhay Kumar described public participation in forest conservation as important and said that big changes are possible with small initiatives. At the end of the program, Patna Zoo Director Hemant Patil thanked everyone. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Prabhat Kumar Gupta, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Development) Arvinder Singh, Chief Conservator of Forests Surendra Singh along with other officers and employees of the department were present in the program.
