Patna, Economic and Cyber ​​Crime Division of Bihar Police has raided the house of the Superintending Engineer in Madhubani, Bihar. When the EOU team reached the engineer's house to raid, the engineer's wife burnt the note. Let us tell you that the EOU team recovered the burnt note from the toilet pipe. Apart from this, a bundle of 500 rupee notes was hidden in the water tank. A press release has also been issued by the Bihar Police Headquarters regarding this. The Economic and Cyber ​​Crime Division wrote in the press release, 'On August 21, 2025, late night, information was received from reliable sources that Shri Vinod Kumar Rai, Superintending Engineer, Rural Works Department, Madhubani Additional Charge Sitamarhi, has left his workplace in the evening in a white Innova car, on which a huge amount of cash collected from illegal works was kept.'

EOU conducted raid
The EOU further informed that for verification, a special team was formed including Additional Superintendent of Police Kumar Indra Prakash posted in Economic Offences Unit, Deputy Superintendent of Police-cum-Station Head Rakesh Kumar and other police officers and personnel and action was initiated for verification and search at Rai's residence located at Bhootnath Road under Patna Agamkua police station area. During the search of the house, Vinod Kumar Rai, who prima facie appears to be involved in all these illegal activities, has been arrested. Rai's wife, Babli Rai, obstructed the Economic Offences Unit team that reached Rai's residence for verification and search and also behaved indecently. A case has also been registered against them and legal action is being taken.

Burnt notes found during search
The EOU further informed that during the search, a large amount of burnt currency notes and remains were recovered from the toilet pipe of the house. The drains of the house were completely blocked, which were opened with the help of municipal corporation employees and burnt and half burnt currency notes and other documents were recovered. Thereafter, the experts of the forensic science laboratory were assisted in their seizure and preservation and their investigation is being done. Many electronics devices have been recovered from their premises, which are being investigated by the cyber forensic team.

EOU seized cash

EOU further informed that during the search of the house, currency notes of 500 rupees hidden in the water tank amounting to 39,50,000/- rupees and damaged and burnt notes of 500 rupees have been recovered till now, totalling about 52,00,000/- rupees. Apart from currency notes, gold and silver jewellery worth about 26 lakh rupees, insurance policy papers and documents of movable and immovable property and Innova Crysta car have been recovered. The insurance policy and documents are being evaluated. The culprits are being questioned and strict legal action will be taken against whoever is found guilty.
