6 dead and 30 injured in stampede at Mansa Devi temple, PM and CM expressed grief, ordered magisterial probe
Tragedy struck at Mansa Devi temple as a stampede triggered by electric shock rumours left 8 dead and 35 injured. The injured were rushed to hospitals, with several in critical condition. Authorities launched immediate rescue efforts.

On Sunday morning, the devotees visiting Mansa Devi temple would not have thought that they would meet their end. There was a stir on the footpath leading to the temple when a stampede suddenly broke out among the huge crowd of devotees. Around 9 o'clock, someone spread a rumour of electric shock among the devotees climbing the temple, which created an atmosphere of panic.
In no time, people started falling on each other. Many devotees got buried amidst the screams. 35 devotees including a child were injured in the accident. They were immediately rushed to the district hospital. The death of eight of these devotees has been confirmed. The other injured have been referred to a higher centre after first aid. AIIMS PRO Sandeep Kumar said that a total of 15 injured were brought to AIIMS, out of which five have been discharged after first aid. 10 are still admitted here. Among them, the condition of a two-year-old girl, a 26-year-old girl and a 56-year-old woman remains critical.
As soon as the information about the incident was received, a team of police and administrative officials immediately reached the spot and the rescue operation was started. The police controlled the crowd and the injured were sent to the district hospital by ambulance.
Amid the chaos in the hospital, tears in the eyes of the family members and grief in their hearts were clearly visible. Senior Superintendent of Police Pramod Singh Dobal said that the incident is very sad. A total of 35 injured were brought to the district hospital, out of which eight devotees were declared dead by the doctors. The rest of the injured are undergoing treatment and some have been referred to higher centers.
Seven ambulances of 108 service and two ambulances of 'Khushiyon Ki Sawari' were deployed on the spot to provide immediate first aid to the injured in the stampede incident and to take them safely to the hospital.
Through these ambulance services, many injured were taken to the hospital on time and necessary medical assistance was provided.
