An orange alert is in place for 24 districts in Uttar Pradesh, while Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana and other regions may witness heavy downpours, thunderstorms and strong winds.

The Meteorological Department said that heavy rain is likely at isolated places over Delhi, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Coastal Karnataka, East Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat region, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Kerala and Mahe. Heavy rains may occur over Konkan and Goa, Marathwada, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
Strong winds will blow here
Thunderstorms with speeds of 50-60 kmph are likely at isolated places in coastal Andhra Pradesh. Thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds (40-50 kmph) are likely at isolated places in Rayalaseema. Thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds (30-40 kmph) are likely at isolated places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Bihar, coastal Karnataka, Jammu and Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Jharkhand and Telangana.
Chances of light rain on Independence Day in Delhi
The national capital Delhi is likely to receive light rain and cloudy skies on the 79th Independence Day. According to the Meteorological Department, the sky will remain cloudy on Friday and the maximum temperature is likely to be between 31 to 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to be 23 to 25 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has not yet issued any weather warning or alert for Friday.
Heavy rain warning in more than 20 districts of UP
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert forecasting heavy rains in 24 districts of Uttar Pradesh. The department has issued an orange alert for Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar and Bijnor in western Uttar Pradesh. A 'yellow alert' has been issued forecasting heavy rains in 19 districts including Lakhimpur Kheri, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Kasganj, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, Badaun, Jalaun, Jhansi and Lalitpur, while lightning warning has been issued in 36 districts.
