A notorious thief who stole goods worth crores of rupees in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka, has been arrested by the police. Police have arrested the thief, wanted in four theft cases. According to information, this notorious thief had stolen goods worth approximately Rs. 1.75 crore. Byappanahalli police have arrested an accused involved in nighttime thefts. They have recovered 1 kg 232 grams of stolen gold jewellery from him.
Long-Sought Thief
The thief arrested by the police has been identified as Raja, a thief who had been wanted by the police for a long time. On October 20, 2025, a resident of Sadananda Nagar, NGEF Layout, filed a complaint that their home had been burgled on October 18, 2025, while the family was traveling from Bengaluru to their village. The thief fled with 783 grams of gold and Rs. 8 lakh in cash.
How was the thief caught?
Following this theft, the police activated local intelligence. The accused was apprehended in Abbigere on January 4. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime. The thief was produced in court on January 5 and was granted 28 days of police custody. The accused revealed that he had sold the stolen gold to several shops and individuals. Between January 9 and February 6, 2026, the police recovered the gold, vehicles, and mobile phones.
Four theft cases solved
With the arrest of the notorious thief by Bengaluru police, a total of four theft cases have been solved. Of these theft cases, three are from the Byappanahalli police station and one is from the Ramamurthy Nagar police station. Police are investigating the matter further.
