Begusarai, Bihar's Begusarai district is going to get a new industrial gift which will give new impetus to the state's economy. Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited, which is part of the Aditya Birla Group, has announced to set up an ethnic women's wear manufacturing unit at the Industrial Growth Center here. The project will be built with an investment of Rs 35 crore and will be formally inaugurated on September 12.
The Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority has already allotted 96,000 square feet of 'plug and play' space under Phase-1 and Phase-2. This unit will create more than 750 direct employment opportunities locally, of which 85-90 percent will be women. Apart from this, 100 to 125 indirect jobs will also be created which will prove to be a boon for the youth of rural and semi-urban areas.
Industry Minister Nitish Mishra, after meeting the group officials on Friday, said that this investment is a proof of the success of Bihar's industrial policies. He stressed that schemes like Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion Package 2025 will attract other big investors. ABFRL officials also praised the Bihar government's fast and transparent process which was helpful in land allocation and approval.
Giving priority to women is the biggest feature of this project. Seeing the efficiency of women in the textile industry, the group has decided that most of the workforce will be made up of women. This will not only lead to economic empowerment but also social change.
Along with this, in partnership with the National Institute of Fashion Technology Patna, skill training will be given to local youth, which will create a trained workforce. Experts believe that this move will give Bihar a new identity in the textile and apparel sector, where earlier oil refining and fertilizer industries were dominant. The Industrial Growth Center of Begusarai is now emerging as a safe and capable investment destination.
