The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list being conducted in Bihar before the assembly elections to be held later this year is surrounded by discussions as well as controversies. The matter is being heard in the Supreme Court. The Election Commission (ECI) has to respond to different aspects of this case in the apex court on July 28. Meanwhile, the idea of voter list revision has also come up from Northeast India. The political party of Tripura has demanded that the Commission should consider Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in this state as well. The Commission will discuss with the political party of the state - TMP on July 23.
Is there illegal migrant in the voter list of Tripura?
According to reports, a delegation of Tipra Motha Party (TMP) has been invited by the Election Commission for a meeting on July 23. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the concerns raised by the party regarding the possible registration of illegal immigrants in the voter list of Tripura.

In fact, TMP, a constituent of the BJP-led coalition government in Tripura, is in favor of conducting a special intensive review (SIR) of the voter list in the state on the lines of Bihar. TMP chief Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma said that the Election Commission has called this meeting on the request of TMP.

Debbarma said in a social media post, "In view of our concerns about the inclusion of illegal immigrants in the voter list of Tripura and our demand to conduct SIR like Bihar, the Election Commission has called us for a meeting on July 23.

The nine-member TMP delegation led by Debbarma will raise several key issues related to the electoral process in the northeastern state, the party said in a press release.
