Indian chess legend "Viswanathan Anand"

Indian chess legend Viswanathan Anand lost to Garry Kasparov in the third game of the Clutch Chess Tournament. Kasparov thus took a 2.5-1.5 lead in this tournament played among the greatest players. Arguably the greatest player in chess history, Kasparov, at the age of 62, showed that despite retiring 21 years ago, he still has plenty of chess left in him. Anand also had opportunities but failed to capitalize on them.

Under the Chess 960 format, two rapid and two blitz matches are played daily. The first two games of the day were drawn, after which Kasparov defeated Anand in the third game. Anand had the opportunity to force a draw but missed. Anand had the upper hand in the first game as well, but the Indian player made unforced errors, allowing former world number one Kasparov to make a comeback and force a draw. The second and fourth games between the two players also ended in draws.

The total prize money for the match is $144,000, with the winner receiving $70,000 and the loser receiving $50,000. There is also an additional $24,000 bonus.
