Katni, Katni (Umaria village) Last night, a minor dispute over cigarette money escalated into bloodshed. The dispute escalated to the point where a shopkeeper's companion was fatally stabbed. The young man was seriously injured in the incident and has been referred to Jabalpur from Katni District Hospital, while the accused fled the scene. Meanwhile, Rethi police acted swiftly and arrested both attackers within a few hours. Following the arrest, police handcuffed the accused and took out a procession through the main market, conveying the message of lawlessness to the public.
DSP Headquarters Umrao Singh stated that last night in Umaria village, two young men entered a tea stall and purchased cigarettes. When the shopkeeper asked for money, the two men started a dispute, demanding reimbursement from him. During the dispute, the shopkeeper's friend Rahul Barman came to intervene, then the accused Raju Thakur attacked him with a knife and fled with his companion on a Pulsar bike. The DSP said that on getting information about the incident, Rethi police acted swiftly and arrested both the accused Raju Thakur and his other companion within a few hours. Both were handcuffed and paraded in Rethi market, where the accused were seen saying that stabbing is a sin, the police is our father.
