The significance of this day is further enhanced by the fact that Padmanabha Dwadashi and Pradosh fasts fall on Saturday. In fact, the Dwadashi Tithi will begin at 6:32 pm on October 3rd and will last until 5:09 pm on October 4th. Trayodashi will then begin, which is why the Shani Pradosh fast is also observed on this day. Let's learn about the significance of Padmanabha Dwadashi and Shani Pradosh fasts...
Saturday's Panchang
According to the Drik Panchang, Abhijit Muhurta will begin at 11:46 am and last until 12:33 pm, and Rahukaal will begin at 9:13 am and last until 10:41 am. On this day, the Sun will be in Virgo and the Moon will be in Aquarius. Furthermore, Dwipushkar Yoga is being formed on Padmanabha Dwadashi, further enhancing its significance.
Significance of Padmanabha Dwadashi
This day also coincides with Padmanabha Dwadashi. According to the Puranas, Padmanabha Dwadashi is celebrated on the Dwadashi Tithi, the day after Papankusha Ekadashi. On this day, the Padmanabha form of Lord Vishnu is worshipped. It is believed that Brahma was born from the lotus that emerged from Lord Vishnu's navel. Observing this fast brings wealth, happiness, peace, and salvation. This day is considered highly auspicious for starting a new business, making investments, or undertaking any important task. Devotees observe a fast on this day and worship Lord Vishnu with rituals, offering Tulsi leaves, lotus flowers, and naivedya. This fast is believed to remove obstacles in life and pave the way for prosperity.
Significance of Shani Pradosh Vrat
Shani Pradosh Vrat is called Pradosham in South India. This fast is observed on both Trayodashi days of the lunar month. Depending on the day of Pradosh Vrat, it is called Som Pradosh, Bhaum Pradosh, and Shani Pradosh when it falls on Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday, respectively. This fast is observed to relieve various troubles and obstacles. Lord Shiva is the guru of Shanidev, hence this fast is also considered beneficial for alleviating the ill effects of the planet Saturn, including Kaal Sarp Dosh and Pitru Dosh. Observing this fast liberates one from all planetary afflictions through the grace of Lord Shiva and helps break the bonds of karma through the grace of Shani Dev. On this day, during the Pradosh period at sunset, the Shivalinga is worshipped, and Shani mantras are chanted and donations of sesame seeds, oil, and other charitable items are made. This fast is especially beneficial for those suffering from the influence of Shani.
