Shinde Shiv Sena's retort on PM Modi's visit to Manipur, Said- Congress is working to provoke the public
Political debate has intensified in Manipur ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit. Shiv Sena accused Congress of provoking public sentiment and stressed the need for peace, rehabilitation of displaced people, and restoration of a popular government instead of politics over the ethnic conflict.

Political rhetoric has intensified over the ethnic conflict in Manipur and the proposed visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The state unit of Shiv Sena has accused the Congress of doing politics on the Manipur crisis and provoking public sentiment. The party has clearly said that at this time the state needs peace and solution, not political debate.
Shiv Sena state president Dr. M. Tombi Singh said that the Congress is unnecessarily raising questions on the Prime Minister's visit. He said that Congress leader Jairam Ramesh's statement that the Prime Minister's hasty visit is an insult to the people of the state is completely wrong and provocative. Tombi said that the Prime Minister should be welcomed, not politics should be done on his visit.
Prime Minister's proposed visit
Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit Manipur on September 13. This will be his first visit since violence broke out between the Meitei and Kuki communities in May 2023. Shiv Sena said that the most important demand in this visit should be the rehabilitation of internally displaced people. The party said that the conflict cannot be permanent and the government will have to take concrete steps.
Questions on agreement with Kuki-Zo organizations
The Shiv Sena leader also questioned the recently extended Suspension of Operations Agreement between the Center and two Kuki-Zo organizations, Kuki National Organization and United People's Front. He alleged that illegal recovery is being done by these organizations from trucks plying on the national highway and armed activities are continuing.
Sharp reaction on Congress
Tombi Singh said that Congress should give suggestions instead of provoking people. He alleged that Congress never took concrete steps to restore peace in Manipur or reduce the sufferings of the people. He clearly said that Congress is only trying to take political advantage.
Demand for popular government
The Shiv Sena also demanded that a popular government be restored in the state before the Prime Minister's visit. Manipur has been under President's rule since the resignation of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh in February. The Shiv Sena says that without a democratic government, it is difficult to solve the problems of the people.
Emphasis on peace and solution
The Shiv Sena said that earlier also Manipur has seen ethnic conflicts like the Kuki-Naga conflict, but they were ultimately resolved. Therefore, this time too there should be concrete initiatives towards peace. The party said that it is very important to disarm all armed groups so that lasting peace can return to the state.
