Crops, homes, and infrastructure have suffered losses worth thousands of crores while rescue and relief operations continue.

Many states of the country have been affected due to disasters like bad weather, rain, floods and landslides. So far 123 people have lost their lives in Jammu and Kashmir. Apart from more than 24 deaths in Haryana, many acres of standing crops have been destroyed. In the hilly state of Himachal, more than 360 people have lost their lives in the last two and a half months. According to government figures, there has been a loss of 3900 crores+. There is a scene of devastation everywhere in Uttarakhand too. The state government has sought a relief package of 5700 crores from the central government as compensation for the loss. 1500 villages are in the grip of floods after the rivers of Punjab overflowed.

The condition of hill states

Uttarakhand has been battling disasters for a month. Glaciers are breaking and falling. Suddenly clouds are bursting. Rivers are overflowing with full force. The continuous formation of temporary lakes has increased the concern of the large population, government and scientists. Due to the formation of new landslide areas, mountains are cracking at many places. Deep cracks have appeared in the ground and houses. This year the state has suffered the biggest economic loss after the Kedarnath disaster of 2013. The economy of the state is also linked to the Char Dham Yatra, but the Yatra could not take place for 55 days in the season. The state government has sought special assistance of Rs 5,702 crore from the Center to overcome the situation. Ten out of 13 districts of the state are in the grip of disaster in some form or the other. 79 people have lost their lives from April 1 to August 31.

360 people died in Himachal in two and a half months, loss of Rs 3979 crore

Another hill state of the country, Himachal Pradesh, is battling natural disaster for two and a half months. 360 people have died since the last week of June due to cloudburst, heavy rains, floods and landslides. 47 people are missing. Hundreds of houses were razed to the ground in this monsoon season. 5,162 houses are damaged. According to government data, a loss of Rs 3,979 crore has been incurred so far. All the districts of the state are facing the brunt of the disaster, but Kullu, Mandi, Chamba, Shimla and Kangra are the most affected. During the last two and a half months, clouds have burst at more than 50 places in the state, while 96 incidents of floods and 133 incidents of landslides have occurred.

1500 villages of Punjab in the grip of floods, 3.87 lakh people affected

There is a scene of devastation due to the rising rivers in Punjab which is in the grip of the disaster. The biggest flood tragedy in history has shaken everyone. So far 46 people have lost their lives. 1.74 lakh hectares of crops have been destroyed. About 1500 villages of all 23 districts and more than 3.87 lakh population are in the grip of floods. People's homes, goods and livestock have been washed away in the floods.

More than 24 deaths in Haryana so far...crops destroyed

12 districts of Haryana, the state situated on the border of the country's capital Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), are facing flood-like situation. After 27 years, due to 48% more rain than normal, the four major rivers Yamuna, Markanda, Tangri and Ghaggar are flowing above the danger mark. Thousands of houses in Ambala, Fatehabad, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, Kaithal, Rohtak, Palwal, Sirsa and Dadri are surrounded by water. More than 24 deaths have occurred so far. 11 lakh acres of crops of 1.92 lakh farmers have been damaged. 2,247 people have been shifted to relief camps in Palwal, Faridabad, Fatehabad, Bhiwani, Kurukshetra and Ambala. NDRF and SDRF teams have been deployed. Army personnel are also engaged in rescue operations in Bahadurgarh of Jhajjar. The situation is such that traffic is disrupted on five national highways of the state.

The biggest tragedy of this decade in Jammu and Kashmir, 123 people have lost their lives so far

The month of August brought huge devastation for Jammu and Kashmir. This is the biggest blow of natural disaster in a decade. This devastation has pushed back the pace of rapid development in the state. 123 people have lost their lives in the natural disaster. The missing people have not been found even after 23 days. The increasing incidents of cloudburst have increased the concern of the people. The wounds of the natural disaster are so deep that it will take years to heal them. The biggest devastation occurred in Chishoti of Kishtwar. Thousands of people who had come to visit Maa Chandi in Machel got trapped in the cloudburst and heavy debris from the mountains. 68 people died. Many people are still missing. A similar disaster had occurred in Jammu and Kashmir in 2014. Then the plan to build Tawi River Front in Jammu was started. It was to be completed by 2023, but this work is still incomplete. However, whatever work has been done on the river front till now, it has worked as a protective shield against this time's devastation.

Heavy rain in Rajasthan amid red alert

Heavy rains in many areas of Rajasthan on Saturday amid the red alert issued by the Meteorological Department. The traffic system collapsed and there was heavy damage to property. A man and his daughter died and five people were injured when a part of a dilapidated house collapsed in Jaipur. A person lost his life due to lightning in a village in Kota. After heavy rains in Bhilwara, residential colonies have been flooded with two to three feet of water. In view of the weather conditions, schools remained closed in Ajmer, Udaipur, Rajsamand, Bhilwara and Salumbhar on Saturday. Due to heavy rains since Friday night in Rajsamand Kumbhalgarh subdivision, a part of National Highway-162 was washed away, due to which traffic had to be diverted.

Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra suspended for the 12th day

Based on the news from these states, it is clear that rain and landslides continue to wreak havoc in North India, especially in the hilly states. Due to continuous bad weather and incidents of landslides on the pilgrimage route, the Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra remained suspended for the 12th consecutive day on Saturday. Due to heavy rains for the last several days, landslides and roads have been blocked in the Trikuta hills, making the pilgrimage route unsafe for the devotees.
