Former Vice President Dhankhar wrote a letter to the government, Sought a 'suitable' government bungalow in Delhi
Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has written to the government seeking a suitable Type-8 bungalow in Delhi. After resigning on health grounds, he moved to a private farmhouse and awaits official accommodation from the Housing Ministry.

Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has sought a suitable government bungalow as per his eligibility, about one and a half months after resigning from the post. Sources said on Monday that former Vice President Dhankhar, entitled to a Type-8 bungalow, wrote a letter to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs about 10 days ago, demanding a suitable government accommodation.
Last week, the former Vice President moved from VP Enclave to a private farmhouse of INLD leader Abhay Chautala located in Chhatarpur area of South Delhi. Sources said that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has not yet allotted any bungalow for the former Vice President. A decision will be taken on this soon.
A Type-8 bungalow at 34, APJ Abdul Kalam Road in Lutyens Delhi is ready to live in. It can be allotted to him, but no decision has been taken yet. It has been told that if Dhankhar refuses to live in this bungalow, then the ministry can give him some other accommodation.
Dhankhar resigned from the post of Vice President on July 21 citing health reasons. His sudden resignation had shocked everyone. Dhankhar's term as Vice President was to end on August 10, 2027. Officials said Dhankhar is entitled to three pensions... former Vice President, former MP and former member of Rajasthan Assembly. As Governor of West Bengal, he does not get any pension benefits. As a former governor, he can get a secretarial staff for a monthly reimbursement of Rs 25,000.
Being a former Vice President, Dhankhar is entitled to a pension of about Rs 2 lakh per month, a Type-VIII bungalow, a private secretary, an additional private secretary, a personal assistant, a physician, a nursing officer and four personal attendants. After the demise of the former Vice President, his spouse gets a small Type-VII house. After Dhankhar's resignation, NDA's C.P. Radhakrishnan is pitted against opposition candidate and former Supreme Court judge B. Sudarshan Reddy in the Vice Presidential election.
