A youth carrying Kanwar from Sultanganj in Banka, Bhagalpur to Deoghar was stabbed to death. While going to Deoghar, some people tried to rob the youth at a deserted place in Banka and when the youth opposed it, the miscreants stabbed him and fled from there. The incident is from Katoria police station area.

The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Ashish Mandal, a resident of Dhanbad district of Jharkhand. It is being told that Ashish had left for Deoghar with his 18 other companions after collecting water from Ajai Vi Nath Dham. During this time, he had to defecate in Katoria, so he told his companions that he would come after a while and went to defecate in a deserted area.

During this time, some miscreants present there surrounded him and started looting. Ashish opposed it. After which the miscreants stabbed him and injured him. Hearing Ashish's scream, his friends standing far away reached the spot and admitted the injured youth to the referral hospital for treatment, where he died during treatment.

After getting information about the incident, the police reached the spot, took the body of the deceased in their custody and sent it for post-mortem and started investigating the case. Several police teams have been formed. The police is scrutinizing the CCTV footage installed in the area and has assured to arrest the miscreants soon.
