Stampede outside Ashok Dham Temple causes major accident
7 female devotees reported dead
Lakhisarai, A major accident has been reported due to a stampede among a large crowd of devotees outside the famous Ashok Dham Temple on Monday morning. According to preliminary information, seven devotees, all of whom are women, have died. Several others have also been injured.
According to reports, a path was prepared for devotees to lead to the temple after the arrival of the train. There were pits on both sides of this path, where farming was being done. Bamboo barricades were erected on both sides to control the crowd of devotees.
It is reported that due to the pressure and heavy rush of devotees, the bamboo barricade on one side broke. The crowd suddenly became uncontrollable, leading to a stampede. During this, several devotees fell into the pit, and seven people are reported to have died due to the pressure of the crowd.
According to reports, seven deaths have been confirmed at Sadar Hospital. All the deceased are said to be women. The deceased have been identified as:
1. Manmala Devi (44), wife of Niranjan Kumar, Ward No. 12, Ind Tola, Barhiya, Lakhisarai
2. Rinku Devi (50), wife of Neeraj Yadav, Farda, Safiasarai Police Station, Munger District
3. Hemlata Devi (55), wife of Surendra Yadav, Kaindi Pratappur, Halsi Police Station, Lakhisarai District
4. Lalita Devi, wife of Gorelal Yadav, Pratappur, Halsi Police Station, Lakhisarai District
All the injured have been taken to Sadar Hospital for treatment. Following the incident, panic gripped the Ashok Dham Temple and the surrounding area. Administration and police teams have arrived at the scene and are engaged in relief and rescue operations.
