Katni, A commotion erupted in the village of Mavai, in the Bahoriband assembly constituency of Katni district, when the women of the village, armed with sticks, confronted Bahoriband MLA Pranay Pandey as soon as he arrived. Surrounding the MLA, the women expressed their displeasure over the open sale of illegal liquor, marijuana, and gambling in the village and demanded immediate action.

The rural women questioned Bahoriband MLA Pranay Pandey, asking why the administration and politicians were silent when liquor was being sold in every village. MLA Pranay Pandey, who was present at the scene, appeared silent and helpless in the face of the women's questions. It is reported that the illegal liquor and drug trade has been going on in Mavai and the surrounding areas for a long time, causing significant distress to the villagers. Congress Rural District President Saurabh Singh stated that the villagers' anger was justified when BJP MLA Pranay Pandey arrived in the village, as he is the MLA from Bahoriband. The MLA remained silent on the questions asked by the women because his silence seemed to be an agreement with the liquor mafia, hence he was not answering the women's questions.
