Narmada drinking water supply will be completely disrupted throughout the day on Tuesday in Indore, the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh. The Municipal Corporation will suspend supply from the Jalud pumping station due to various maintenance and leakage repair works on the Narmada pipeline. This shutdown will directly impact the city's water supply system for the next two days, resulting in water tanks in many areas not filling up and water supply being affected.

Residents of the western region will be relieved, as five of its tanks are filled from the Yashwant Sagar reservoir, so water supply will remain smooth in that area.

What major works are being implemented for the shutdown?
Municipal Water Department officials have scheduled a one-day shutdown to complete the repair work. The main supply from Jalud will be stopped starting Tuesday morning, and the following major works will be carried out:

Mahunaka area: The old valve will be replaced with a new one.

Bilawali area: Leaks in the 1200 mm main pipeline will be repaired.

Rajendra Nagar Bridge: The leaks in the old pipeline will be repaired, along with interconnection work and the installation of a new valve.

Large areas of the city will be affected: These tanks will be completely empty.
Due to the water supply being cut off on Tuesday, several major water tanks in the city will be completely empty, resulting in no tap water in the following areas on Wednesday (August 26):

Strictly affected areas: Annapurna, Scheme No. 103, Chhatribag, Rajmohalla, Dravid Nagar, Lokmanya Nagar, Maharana Pratap Nagar, Narwal, Kushwaha Mohalla, Tigriya, Banganga, Subhash Chowk, Sadar Bazaar, Jinsi Haat, Malhar Ashram, Gandhi Hall, Bhakt Prahlad Nagar, MOG Line, and Jai Hind Nagar.

Additionally, the tanks in the eastern region will not be able to fill to their full capacity on August 26th, resulting in low-pressure water for residents there.

Alternative Arrangements: Water Supply Through Tankers
Abhishek Sharma 'Babloo', in-charge of the Water Works Committee, stated that for the convenience of residents, the Municipal Corporation will arrange for water tanker distribution in the affected areas. He also clarified that if the leakage and valve replacement work is completed before the scheduled time, pumping from Jalud will be immediately restored to ensure normal supply as soon as possible.
