Dhar (Amjhera), Shri Krishna Pathey Nyas, Government of Madhya Pradesh, Culture Department is organizing a grand and divine celebration of "Shri Krishna Festival" on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami in the city of Amjhera. The two-day program will begin on September 3rd and 4th, starting at 7 p.m., behind the police station premises. On the first day of Shri Krishna Festival, the dance drama "Shri Krishna Leela" will be presented by Mr. Harshit Sharma and Saathi, Bhopal. Scenes from Krishna's life and his Leelas will be brought to life on stage through dance, acting, and music. Following this, a devotional performance by renowned singers Sharma Bandhu and Saathi, Ujjain, will fill the atmosphere with the tunes of Krishna devotion. Through these melodies, intertwined with folk and classical sentiments, the audience will experience the form of Lord Krishna, sometimes as the mischievous Krishna, sometimes as a symbol of love, and sometimes as a warrior standing guard over Dharma.
On the second day, a dance drama centered on the "Abduction and Marriage of Rukmini" will be presented by Durga Mishra and his team from Bhopal. This love story of Krishna and Rukmini is not only a mythological tale, but also a story of love, courage, and perseverance. Meanwhile, a devotional singing performance by Ms. Akriti Soni and her team from Indore will fill this cultural evening with the sweetness of devotion. Director of Culture, N.P. Namdev, explained that Amjhera is considered a witness to the mythological incident involving Lord Krishna and Rukmini's abduction. It is believed that to save Rukmini from marrying Shishupal, Lord Krishna took her from Amjhera to Dwarka. Rukmini's brother, Rukmi, pursued Lord Krishna, and a battle ensued, in which Lord Krishna defeated Rukmini. This is the fairytale land where Krishna's love, valor, and folk life come together. Amjhera's ancient temples, ponds, canopies, wells, and fort tell the story of this region's historical richness.
