The situation continues to remain grim in the horrific poisonous liquor tragedy in Banda tehsil of Sagar district, Madhya Pradesh. The death toll from suspected alcohol consumption has risen to 21, while over 120 people are battling for life in various hospitals. The Bundelkhand Medical College (BMC) is overwhelmed with patients, leaving healthcare systems overwhelmed. Due to a severe shortage of space in the hospital, many victims are being given emergency treatment on drips while in wheelchairs.

Administration Strict: Magisterial Inquiry Ordered

Given the gravity of the incident, Sagar Collector Pratibha Pal has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the entire matter. All aspects related to the factors responsible for this horrific tragedy in the Banda area, administrative negligence, and the illegal liquor trade will be investigated. Senior district administration officials are closely monitoring the situation.

FIRs filed against political and influential figures, major police crackdown

Following the incident, the police department has gone into full action. Special raids are being conducted in the Banda and Vinayaka police station areas to dismantle the illegal liquor mafia and its supply network. Police have filed criminal cases against 30 accused in this connection.

According to regional police officials, the main focus of the investigation is to trace the supply chain of the poisonous liquor. An investigation is underway to determine where this dangerous chemical-laced liquor was being transported to the villages and who the mastermind behind it is. Police have made it clear that no one involved in the illegal liquor trade will be spared.
