Katni, on Sunday night, unknown persons committed theft in 125 year old Shri Chandraprabh Digambar Jain temple located in the heart of the city, Jhanda Bazar. The thieves reached the roof of the temple using stairs from a house located next to the temple and entered the temple by removing the iron rod. From here, they stole donation box and other items.
The theft in Jain temple caused sensation. As soon as the news spread, a large number of people from Jain community reached here. People were seen angry about the incident. As soon as the information was received, Kotwali TI Ashish Sharma also reached the temple with police force. Finger print experts were also called. Dog squad investigated every nook and corner of the temple. In the CCTV footage, the thieves are seen entering the temple from the stairs. Which is being investigated. According to the footage, the thieves entered the temple late at night and escaped after committing the crime. People of Jain community told that like every day, the temple was closed at 9:30 pm on Sunday night and the people of Jain community had gone to their respective homes. Meanwhile, two unknown thieves broke the door at the back of Dr. Sameer Chaudhary's house in front of Digambar Jain Boarding House and reached the top. It is said that the unknown thieves reached the roof of Dr. Sameer Chaudhary's house via the stairs and reached the roof of Chandraprabh Digambar Jain Temple using the stairs kept here. Here, after breaking the glass on the dome of the temple, they broke the rod with an iron cutter and reached inside the temple with the help of the bell chain. An iron donation box was kept here. The thieves picked up the donation box and escaped with other items kept in the temple. Dirt was also found on the roof of the temple, apart from this, clothes and liquor bottles were also found.
