Shivhar, The complaint related to the removal of road breakers from the roads of Shivhar has been executed in the District Public Grievance Redressal. Mukund Prakash Mishra had filed a complaint in this regard.

In the light of the above, a photocopy of the complaint was sent to the Executive Engineer Rural Works Department, Shivhar and a report was sought. Anand Chaudhary, Junior Engineer, representative of Executive Engineer Rural Works Department, Shivhar, was present. District Transport Officer, Shivhar has informed through his letter no. 506 dated 19.08.2024 that a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee has been organized on 23 August 2024.

Due to speed breakers, emergency vehicles like ambulances, police vehicles and fire brigade vehicles slow down. Speed breakers cause traffic jams and also reduce the fuel efficiency of vehicles and increase the risk of air pollution.

The lower part of the vehicles can hit the speed breaker and cause damage to the vehicles and generally it proves to be fatal for two wheelers. To get rid of the problem of speed breakers, guidelines have been issued from time to time by the Hon'ble High Court and the State Government.

But in the rural areas of Shivhar district, it is often found that speed breakers have been installed unplanned on rural roads after every short interval. The public authority says that local people are opposing the breaking of speed breakers. In the circumstances described, it seems appropriate that the matter of speed breakers in Shivhar district should be requested to the District Road Safety Committee whose members are all types of executive engineers including the Superintendent of Police to take a decision regarding speed breakers.

The matter has been disposed of by accepting the suit with a recommendation to the District Transport Officer, Shivhar to hold the next meeting of the District Road Safety Committee today dated 23rd August 2024.
