The security threat looming over Indian-American businessmen in the United States has deepened once again. Suresh Patel, a 56-year-old Gujarati businessman, was shot and killed in a brutal incident in Jackson, Tennessee. The deceased's 19-year-old daughter, standing close by, miraculously survived the deadly attack, though she witnessed her father's suffering.

This heartbreaking incident occurred at around 9 p.m. on August 20th at Ridgecrest Cellars, a liquor store on Ridgecrest Road.

Opened as soon as he had the money

The facts revealed in the police investigation are shocking. The masked robber entered not merely with the intention of robbery, but with a deadly intent.

Attack even after giving cash: Suresh Patel handed over all the cash in the store as soon as he saw the robber's gun. But even after getting the money, the fearless criminal fired several rounds indiscriminately.

Death on the spot: A bullet directly hit Patel, killing him on the spot.

Employee also injured: A 70-year-old employee in the store fell down in the ensuing gunfire, breaking his wrist.

After committing the crime, the killer collected the stolen cash and fled in a white sedan parked outside.

The killer was hiding behind a paintball mask and a hoodie.

According to Jackson police, the killer was a tall Black man. He wore a large paintball mask to conceal his identity. He was also wearing a gray hoodie, jeans, and heavy work boots.

The local police administration has begun examining CCTV footage from the entire area. Police have appealed to witnesses and nearby residents to immediately report any information they have about the suspicious car or the man in the hoodie.

The late Suresh Patel was originally from Akhaj village in Mehsana district (Kadi tehsil) in Gujarat. His family had recently acquired the business ownership of Ridgecrest Cellars with great expectations. Suresh Patel had just taken over the store's management a few days earlier, but fate had other plans.
