People of Bhagalpur are very happy
Approval for four lane road from Lohia Bridge to Aliganj
Bhagalpur, the four lane road to be built from Lohia Bridge to Aliganj and Agarpur to Kotwali has been approved. The process of making DPR (Detailed Project Report) of both the roads has started.
Both the projects were stuck for about three years in anticipation of approval. After the proposal got approval from the headquarters of the Road Construction Department (RCD), the way for its construction has been cleared.
Executive Engineer of RCD Bhagalpur claims that within a month, DPR of both the projects will be prepared and sent to the headquarters.

He said that DPR for Agarpur-Kotwali and Bypass Link Road is being prepared by a consultant agency. Rs 77 crore will be spent on its construction.
While the departmental engineers are preparing the DPR of the four kilometer long four lane road from Lohia Bridge to Aliganj Road. Rs 56.71 crore will be spent on the construction of this four lane.
These works will be done before construction
Apart from encroachment, electricity wires and poles will be removed. At many places between Lohia Bridge and Aliganj Bypass, the width of the road is only three and a half meters. Action will be taken to remove encroachment to widen these parts to the level of four lane.
The Road Construction Department (RCD) has sufficient land on both sides of the road. At present, temporary and permanent encroachment has been done on it. Cooperation will be taken from the administration to remove it. Also, the electricity poles located on the side of the road can also become an obstacle.
Recently the electricity department has shifted some poles. But, due to lack of coordination with RCD, many poles are still present right on the edge of the road. Which can become an obstacle in the construction work.
However, the survey report has been submitted to RCD by the electricity department related to wire and pole shifting. A supervision charge of Rs 10 crore has been proposed for wire-pole shifting.
A one meter wide divider will be built
As part of the plan to develop the road into a four lane, a one meter wide divider will be built in the middle of the road. This will make the movement of vehicles more systematic and safe. The width of the road is less compared to the pressure of vehicles.
A divider cannot be made in a two-lane road. Due to the absence of a divider, there is a possibility of collision between vehicles coming from both sides. There is a plan to install safety reflectors and side railings on both sides of the road along with the divider.
According to the department, a clear provision for this divider is being made in the DPR and its design is also being decided. Lohia Bridge-Aliganj road will be connected to Bhagalpur-Hansdiha four lane.
At present, the road will be four lane only from the bypass to Kotwali.
On the other hand, Bhagalpur-Agarpur-Kotwali and Bypass Link Road will be developed in the width of four lane from bypass to Kotwali. But the part from the bypass towards Sheetla Sthan Chowk will remain as it is.
The department believes that in this part, a road cum over bridge (ROB) is to be constructed near Bounsi Rail Bridge No. 2. Until the shape of ROB and its approach road is not decided, widening is not possible in this part. After the construction of ROB, the remaining road will also be widened to the level of four lane.
Approval has been given to make four lane road from Lohia Bridge to Aliganj and Agarpur-Kotwali and Bypass Link Road of Bhagalpur. DPR will be prepared in a month and sent to the headquarters. - Arvind Kumar Gupta, Executive Engineer, Road Construction Department Work Division, Bhagalpur.
