Patna, Bihar government has started a plan to build Haat on the same lines in Patna and Rohtas in view of the success of Mithila Haat of Madhubani. This initiative is to promote tourism along with encouraging local handicrafts and folk artists. An amount of Rs 48.96 crore has been approved for Patna Haat and Rs 28 crore for Rohtas Haat, taking the total budget to Rs 76.96 crore. Apart from this, the construction of ropeway will start this year in Gaya and Kaimur, which will further strengthen the tourism sector of Bihar.

This Haat to be built near Gandhi Maidan in Patna will not only be a center of shopping, but will also be an entertainment and picnic spot. Handicrafts and folk art products will be sold here, which will include traditional artifacts like Mithila painting. Apart from this, there will be two restaurants for food and drinks. There will be a game zone for children, which will have entertaining games. The facilities will include underground and surface parking, three-floor emporium, fire fighting, fire alarm, lift, water tank, CCTV system, solar power generation system, boundary wall and street lights.

On the other hand, Rs 28 crore has been sanctioned for the Haat to be built near Indrapuri reservoir in Rohtas. This Haat will also promote local handicrafts and culture, although detailed details of its specific facilities are not yet available. Rohtas, which is already known as a tourist destination, will become even more attractive with this Haat.

There is no doubt that this project will give a new direction to the tourism sector of Bihar. Like Mithila Haat, these Haats will provide a platform to local artists and connect tourists with the rich cultural heritage of Bihar. Also, with the start of construction of ropeways in Gaya and Kaimur, tourists will be able to easily reach the hill and religious places of these areas. For example, a 425 meter long ropeway will be built on Mundeshwari mountain in Kaimur, which will make it easier to reach Mundeshwari Dham.
