Barwani, Traffic closed on Moratakka bridge in Barwani: Narmada water level increased, Narmada is flowing one meter more than the danger mark, Sai temple submerged in Navghat Khedi.

23 gates of Omkareshwar Dam were open, releasing 37 thousand cumecs of water. Due to continuous rains in the upper areas, the water level of Narmada is increasing once again. As a precautionary measure, traffic on Mortakka bridge has also been stopped. Due to increase in water in the reservoir of Omkareshwar Dam, water is being released continuously from Omkareshwar Dam since last night. Since then, the water level of Narmada has been rising continuously and rapidly. The situation on Saturday is that both the new and old ghats at Navghat Khedi are completely submerged while the Sai Temple has also been submerged. By around 8 am in the morning the water level of Narmada was 165 meters was recorded, which is 1 meter more than the danger mark of 163.980. This is the reason why traffic on the bridge has been closed as a precautionary measure. Police have been deployed on the bridge by barricading it on both sides. Once the bridge is built, light vehicles are passing through the aqueduct bridge. It is noteworthy that 22 gates were opened from Omkareshwar Dam on Friday evening. Due to which 10172 cumec water was being released into Narmada from the dam gate in Narmada river. Whereas about 25 thousand 233 cumec water is being released from gate 23 in the morning. From 9 am in the morning, about 37 thousand cumec water will be released into Narmada from the gate. The reason is that there will be a sudden rapid rise in the Narmada water level at Navghatkhedi and the water level on the Motakka bridge will also rise by 1 feet. During this time the administration has also come into action. SDM Pradeep Soni told that even at the ghat, bathers are being stopped from taking bath in Narmada. A team of sailor Babulal Mangle, Pradeep Kevat etc. is deployed at the spot. Pandit Vinay Atre told that in the morning the water level suddenly started rising rapidly. Within some time the Jal Sai temple also got submerged. Due to the surge of Narmada and high water level, the shops were shifted to the upper area, hence no loss of life or untoward incident occurred. It is being told that more amount of water can be released from Omkareshwar Dam.
