Nalanda, Bihar: Children's lives are being played with in the name of mid-day meal. Cases of irregularities in mid-day meal are constantly coming to light from different districts of the state. The latest case is coming from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's home district Nalanda, where more than two dozen children's health deteriorated after eating mid-day meal in school.

Actually, the whole matter is of Madhya Vidyalaya Harbanshpur Madwa School located in Chiksaura Panchayat of Hilsa block. Like every day, children had reached school on Friday as well. Mid-day meal was served among the children after the first shift was over. After eating mid-day meal, the children's health suddenly started deteriorating.

After more than 24 children fell ill one after the other, there was a stir in the school management. After the children complained of stomach ache and vomiting, the senior officials were informed about the incident. Many officials including the Block Development Officer reached the spot and after calling an ambulance, all the children were admitted to the hospital for treatment, where their treatment is going on.

After getting information about the incident, the parents of the children reached the hospital and accused the school management of negligence and demanded action. It is being told that mid-day meal is delivered to the government school through an NGO. A dead lizard was found in the food and the children were served food without checking it. After this, the health of the children started deteriorating. Officials have talked about taking action against the guilty teachers. At present, the children are said to be out of danger.
