Mahagathbandhan started preparations for Bihar elections
Tejashwi promised 200 units of free electricity if government is formed
Political parties have already started preparing for the assembly elections to be held in Bihar in October-November next year. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday promised to give 200 units of free electricity to consumers if the 'Mahagathbandhan' government is formed in the upcoming assembly elections. Addressing reporters in Munger, the former Deputy Chief Minister also said that RJD is preparing a 'roadmap' to be shared with the public before the assembly elections next year.
'People are facing many problems of electricity'
He said, 'The people of the state are facing high electricity rates and irregular electricity bills by 'smart prepaid meters'. We intend to provide relief to the people by correcting the bills and providing 200 units of free electricity. We are committed to do so when we come to power, but until then we will put pressure on the Nitish Kumar government for this.' Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Tejashwi alleged that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is no longer what he was. Now he has become a mere mask of an alliance that is holding power in the state.
Attack on Nitish Kumar
The RJD leader accused the Janata Dal United (JDU) supremo of failing to protect the laws providing special status to Bihar and increased quota for disadvantaged castes despite being an integral part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Center. He accused the Mahila Samvad Yatra to be taken out soon by the Chief Minister as 'misuse of public money' and said that the bureaucracy has been given a free hand to indulge in loot. A budgetary allocation of Rs 250 crore has been made for this yatra.
What did he say on the defeat in the by-election?
Tejashwi said on his party's defeat in the recent Bihar assembly by-elections, 'By-elections are never an indication of what is going to happen in the assembly elections. This has been seen many times. Also remember that in 2020 the Mahagathbandhan had almost reached the majority.'
