Shivhar, the litchi garden of late Kapoor Chandra Sah in Amba Kala of Shivhar Piprahi is famous in the entire North Bihar. There is about 8 acres of litchi orchard, in which 3 acres of royal litchi orchard and 5 acres of China litchi orchard.
Farmer Harikant Gupta has told that it has no match to its taste, its size is big and it does not get affected by insects and does not burst.
On the tree, Ramdayal Sah, elder son of late Kapurchand Shah, has told that we ourselves give medicine, spraying and watering on time. Do not get any benefit from the government. Agriculture advisor co-ordinator has been reinstated at Panchayat level and officer has been reinstated at the block level.
They ignore even when contacted. Had the department's support been available, nearby farmers would have also produced litchi.
He has told that this time he himself has applied online to avail the benefits. There are total 355 litchi trees. And only 213 trees have been sprayed on the scene.
The rest was left behind by the sprayer sent from the District Agriculture Office.
He has told that signatures were made in the names of 5 members of the family, after which they left. On contacting, a demand for money was made.
The farmer told that he has been spraying Dawa at his level since 5 years. Spraying was done only after spending a very small amount.
He told that in my place, Shahi litchi starts ripening from the tree after 20th May, China litchi starts ripening from 30th May. Outside Patna, Jharkhand, Calcutta, Bengal, Delhi, Mumbai, traders take litchi from my place in pickup, 407.
