Khargone, In Khargone, Bhikangaon Madhya Pradesh, on the instructions of former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the premises of Madhya Pradesh were closed from April 1, 2023, but the contractors at the liquor shop located in Bhikangaon city are openly flouting the rules of excise and police administration in the state. The courtyards near the liquor shops were closed, but the crowd of drinkers did not reduce. Be it morning, Dohar or evening, jam starts spilling out in the open around the liquor shops. A crowd gathers outside the liquor shop as the evening approaches. Local and foreign liquor vendors are seen standing around the shop carrying drinks from carts.
Lack of attention or collusion of local excise and police
It is not that the excise and police are not keeping an eye on the jam spilling out in front of the shop. Police and excise officers also pass in front of the liquor shops, but they never got any attention. Now it remains to be seen what action the local police administration of Bhikangaon and the local excise department take against the shop operator contractor because as per the rules, only liquor is allowed in the liquor shop. Liquor can be sold at Bhikangaon liquor shop but the reality is telling something else.
This is the rule that there will be no shop within 100 meters.
Under the excise rules, there should not be any liquor shop within 100 meters of educational institutions, schools, colleges and places of religious worship like temples, mosques etc. Earlier this limit was 50 meters which was increased to 100 meters. In front of the liquor shop operated in Bhikangaon Jhirnya Pipliya Panchayat, there are temples and religious places behind it, on which no action has been taken till date. Why?
This also violates the rules, liquor is supplied to rural areas without any fear
Illegal liquor is supplied from the local liquor shop of Bhikangaon town to other villages of the tehsil by the contractor's workers in two-wheelers. While carrying the liquor, people are seen driving the bike at high speed through the streets and highways, which invites accidents. According to this, only liquor can be sold from the shop but in Bhikangaon city everything is possible with the connivance of the local administration. Now it would not be wrong to say that now there is no fear of police and administration in the minds of local liquor contractors and workers.
Liquor is being served while sitting at Bhagoria festival shop
In Anjangaon village of Bhikangaon, on the occasion of Bhagoria festival on Monday, the contractor operator is serving liquor while sitting at the liquor shop, which is beyond the rules, but the excise police is not paying any attention. Only Ram knows what will happen tomorrow on Tuesday at Bhikangaon Bhagoria.
During the discussion on the call, Sachin Bhaske, Excise Officer, Bhikangaon says: I am not aware, I am out right now, I will come and see.
