In this village of Damoh, the four ghats of the pond are divided among the castes
Only one source of water in the village
Damoh, God has given everyone equal rights on air and water, but there is a village in Damoh where people of four castes have different rights on water and this practice has been going on for centuries.
We are talking about this village of Hinauti village, just 8 kilometers away from Damoh district headquarters, is bound in the shackles of casteism. There is a pond in this village which has separate ghats of four castes. The water of this pond is used by the people of the whole village, but they have to go to the ghat of their own caste because centuries ago the elders of the village had made this system, which is still going on today and no one has any objection to this system. Not there.
Separate ghats made of 4 castes on the pond
The people of the village told that there is this pond in their village, on which there are different ghats. Castes have been divided on the four Ghats in which people of that caste go and use the water, wash clothes and take bath. No one in the village has any objection on this matter, but there has also been a limitation that no caste person should use the Ghat of another caste. The youth of the village also know this and say that their forefathers had made this arrangement. The youth must say that if this pond of the village is renovated and a better ghat is made, then people will start getting a lot of facilities. He said that there is a lot of water problem in the village. There is a government well, which has also been encroached upon by some people. The people of the village have to come to this pond only for discharge water. If the pond is deepened, many things will be corrected.
Villagers do not go to other's ghat
The elders of the village tell that the system was made centuries ago, they grew up and became old, but the system continues even today. No person goes to the pond on the ghat of another caste. Asked the villagers what would happen if someone goes to another ghat, then they told that people scold, but this does not happen. People do not go to other ghats other than their own ghats, it is a matter of course that people of upper caste go to ghats of other castes and use them, so no one takes any objection to this.
the people in the past didn't take any initiative
Sarpanch of Hinoti village Neeta Ahirwar told that the population of the village is 2 thousand. Adjacent to the village is the Nistari pond which is spread over two and a half hectares. The sarpanch said that this is an old tradition, earlier people did not take any initiative, that's why even today the situation remains the same. There are 1200 Thakurs, 200 Bansals, 25 Prajapatis and 450 Chaudharys in the village.
There are 4 handpumps in the village, but the water tank built in all the four closed villages has developed cracks, water did not come out in 4 handpumps. In such a situation, the disposed pond and the well of the lambardar are left for water, on the support of which the whole village lives.
Rural Roop Singh told that the pond is used for bathing and washing. To fill drinking water, they go to the well 600 meters away from the village, where the people of the society who reach first, fill the water first, then the people of the other society fill the water.
information will be taken
Damoh District CEO Vinod Jain says that he is not aware of any such practice. He will go to the village and talk to the villagers and if anyone complains then further action will be taken.
